Letters

Despite the fact that this is the first ever issue of Barcode Review, we still got some letters!

BARCODES ROCK!

I have read the advertisements for your magazine with great interest. It seems to be the best magazine ever about barcodes! (I think it's probably the only one - Ed) I think barcodes are really excellent, because they're made up of black lines on a white background, and they have numbers in them as well. How different numbers are assigned to different products is really amazing.

Stuart states the obvious, as usual. But this time he is WRONG - barcodes aren't always black on white, there was a famous incident with a loaf of bread, where the barcode was coloured differently. So there.

BIZARRE BARCODES

One thing really confuses me - why do some barcodes not follow the traditional 13-digit format, and some even include numbers! Take the ageing barcode on my copy of...

Yes, we did cut that letter short, because it was incredibly boring. The only reason we printed it was becuase we thought we needed more than one letter, and that was the second best one from Stuart, out of the thousands he sent us.
